THE principal lessons which our Lord has taught to "us and to our children" in His
Sermon on the Mount, I have tried in these thirty-one Readings to bring down, so far as might be done, to the level of the mind and conscience of a child of tender years.
Parents and others who read them to the children are asked to explain and develop the lessons, and to ask some questions on their subjects.
As the doctrinal teaching of the Church Catechism is simplified and applied in "Evening Chimes," so the practical lessons of Christ's Sermon are intended by this companion volume to be applied to the daily life of many a little child.
